I am a great grandson of Arthur Charles Nottingham (NZ) Antony Nottingham (gandhinagar@optusnet.com.au) (posted 04.11.04) The marvelous text you have prepared on the early history of the Nottinghams in Virginia and their English forebears is a tribute both to your industry and imagination and to the power of the Internet. This is a wonderful find and a great complement to other research that was done by my father concerning the Eastern Shore family of my mother, Elizabeth Nottingham, who descended from Richard through Smith Severn Nottingham. The drawings by your ancestor were a particularly interesting note, as my mother was an artist. One example of her work from the 30s is in the GSA art collection as posted on the Internet. facit.gsa.gov/facit/interaia.nsf/859c1330cb4698c7852563d2006d058c/c9341782895f8aad85256e84004ffc44?OpenDocument If you should be interested, I would be happy to share some of the research done by my relatives and others on the Eastern Shore concerning Richard Nottingham. A most interesting read especially if you are suffering from insomnia (did the trick every time!) roll on volume 2 ( The prehistoric connection - how Nottinghams ruled the earth before dinosaurs!) Capt. Caveman. (posted 15.01.03) I have enjoyed the information on the Nottingham family that you have researched for so many years and so extensively. I am a direct desc of Richard 'the planter' and was also born on Va's eastern shore in Nassawadox. Thank you so much for all your work and for making the information available to your American cousins. This answers so many questions on the origins of our Nottingham families. Also the names of Pett and Hatton that have for so many years been in the almost forgotten past and only seemed a legend to many of us. I have Nottingham's on both my grandmother and grandfathers side they have intermarried so much on the shore. I have for many years done research on the Notthingham family of the eastern shore. Now I can finally say that there has been a connection discovered and researched in England. So many of my lines are left in the 1600's only to wonder where in England they came from. Again thank you for all your work in helping straighten out your American Nottinghams.
